Martin Family Christmas
As you may know, I come from a family of professional musicians. I am especially proud of this CD because I was able to bring in three generations of my family to perform together on this project. My two brothers, Andy Martin (trombone) and Stan Martin (trumpet) join me in the horn section as well as my 16 year old son Tyler Martin, (baritone sax and clarinet), as well as my special guest, my 69 year old father Dave Martin, on trumpet and flugelhorn.
When we were growing up in Long Beach, it was always inspiring to hear my dad play his horn. We would tag along to his gigs all the time. His enthusiastic love of jazz music was inspiring, but so was his beautiful, soulful, melodic way of improvising. He loves to play and is still busy gigging every weekend and still inspiring us.
I had a great time producing this CD. I was especially proud to hear my father and my son take solo turns on ‘Have Yourself a Merry Christmas’ arranged by my son Tyler. Another great moment was to hear the playback of my Dad’s beautiful rendition of ‘White Christmas’ with all of us playing behind him in the background. My brothers did a fantastic job as well on all the tunes.
Check it out....Three generations of Martin horns!! I am so glad I can share my family in a musical arena. Thanks and I hope you enjoy my holiday CD, “A Martin Family Christmas”.
Happy Holidays, Scott Martin
